DNA has been around for over 3.5 billion years!

DNA, RNA and the genetic code is the same in all organisms we have ever discovered! The variation between organisms both here today, all that have ever lived on earth is based on the differences in length and order of the information contained in the DNA of the cells of these organisms. The source of this variation is mutation, and the result of mutation is natural selection which leads to evolution.

December begins.

Snow is falling, yet there are still many organisms replicating their DNA. Cells are dividing, and chromosomes are condensing.

It is getting cold and many trees are putting photosynthesis on hiatus

The sun is getting weaker, farther away, and lower on the horizon. Deciduous plants are losing their leaves. You are learning about plants and breathing the oxygen they make. What a coincidence.

Update: Stanford 0-2 versus Univeristy of California teams this football season.

Stanford University lost it's second game of the season to a UC, this time UCLA. Back on September 17, 2005, Stanford was beaten by Division II UC Davis, my alma mater. Stanford will play the Cal Bears on 11/19 in Palo Alto.

You cannot stop biology. Add that Stanford cannot stop UC Davis.

Although most of us already knew this would happen, we would like to point out that the University of California, Davis defeated the Stanford Cardinal 20-17 in the first football game played between the two in 73 years.

Growing up in Berkeley, and earning my masters degree there, I have always been a Cal fan (they beat Illinois 35-20 yesterday, and are 3-0), but I learned a lot about not being able to stop biology at UC Davis from 1991-1995. UC Davis. I see Davis.

In related news, Stanford may lose to three UCs this year in football (UCLA 10/29, and Cal 11/19), which may be a record. If not, it is still fun to talk about.

That is all I could think of tonight.

the bear does not quit; the bear does not die.

GRIZZLY BEAR, UP CLOSE
Update: Cal defeated Sacramento State 41-3. Unfortunately, Nate Longshore, the bears starting qb, went down with a broken fibula and is out for the season.

The University of California Golden Bears take on the Sacramento State Hornets today at Memorial Stadium. Alas, I will not be there, but my brother Shanan will represent. Go Bears.

In related news, the University of California, Davis Aggies will be taking on the $tanford Cardinal in two weeks. Go Aggies.

news

It is mid-August, just before the school year starts here in Illinois. The summer has been quite eventful for me. After leaving Berkeley High, my home for the past 5 years, I left town, quickly crashed my car outside of Winnemucca, NV, and moved into a new house with Stephanie and Skylar. Things are hot, humid, noisy from the cicadas, and very green thanks to all of the beautiful trees.

I have been working on the house all summer, and it is coming together nicely. Skylar turned one last month, and she is doing great. Bear and Casey like all of the squirrels, and the hot dogs are excellent.
