Hello eumetazoa. In case you forgot, you are not in these phyla: porifera, cnidaria, platyhelminthes, nematoda, annelida, mollusca, arthropoda, or echinodermata. Echinoderms are dueterostomes, but they do not have segmentation as adults, and have 5 fold radial symmetry. You are a deuterostome too. But you have a post anal tail. So you are a chordate.

Anyway, now that you have a new description for yourself, or any vertebrate, check out these great activities:

1. First up, make sure that your brain is ready to get moving like a u-haul. We are talking serious aerobic respiration.

2. Then, make sure that your group mates are engaged, and ready to learn knowledge.

3. Then, click the following link: animalia activities.

4. Once that opens, you will need to log in. name: newtrierbiology. password: open.

5. Now find chapter 18: the evolution of animal diversity on the pull down menu.

6. Then click on "activities" in the upper left hand corner of the window. Hint: It says "activities".

7. You will see three links, 18A, 18B and 18C. You will first do 18A.

PART ONE
8. When 18A starts, make sure you click the "review" button, not the "quiz", at least not yet.

9. With your entire group of students each writing information down before moving on, go through each example of organism from the pull down menu. For example, start with "sponge." A table will show up that provides a lot of helpful information to KNOW, and write down so that you can study it.

10. Go through all of the examples (sponge, jelly, planarian worm, hookworm, snail, earthworm, grasshopper, sea star, dog), and WRITE DOWN info on each one. Make sure that each individual student does their own work. Do it like hair.

PART TWO
11. Before moving on, take out the table I gave you with empty spaces for descriptions of each phylum, and fill out as much information you can from the notes you just took in this activity!

PART THREE
12. In 18A, change from "review" to "quiz," and try the quiz. Each of you need to get a chance to try it. If it is not your turn on the computer, watch and learn from your group members knowledge and mistakes. Keep watching even after you are finished. You will learn. You will. But if you do not try and stay disciplined, you will not.

PART FOUR
13. Change to activity 18C, by clicking on "activities" again, and then 18C!
14. Here, each student will try to answer the questions that come up on the screen. Others watch and learn, even if it is not there turn (that rhymed). You will need to click "next" in the upper right window to move to the next animal representative!

OK you are done, but if there is time, try 18B. Check it out like a library book.

You can do all of this stuff on the internets from home, the library, etc.! It is not like wow, it's like whoa.
